This champion thoroughbred race horse won the 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, and came in 2nd in the Belmont Stakes, narrowly missing the elusive triple crown in racing.
Pennsylvania bred and trained during his early days, this horse hold a special place in the hearts of many from the area. During Smarty Jones’s run at the triple crown, many people would gather to watch the races, dubbing them “Smarty Parties.”
After a breeding career that took him back to the state of Kentucky, as well as Uruguay, Smarty Jones is now and lives in Pennsylvania.
